Matrix maker 3.0.2 : Known problems

Matrix maker 3.0.2 has been found by some (but not all) users to be incompatible with Aladdin's True Finder Integration control panel, a component of StuffIt Deluxe 4.5.x and StuffIt Deluxe 5.x.

The workaround is to go to the TFI control panel, click the button that turns TFI off, and then restart your computer. The "Magic Menu" will not be installed at startup if you do this. However, if you are running Mac OS 8 or above and have installed the "Magic Menu CM Plug-in" in your "Contextual Menu Items" folder within your System Folder, the full functionality of the "Magic Menu" will be accessible via a "Control-click" on the file upon which you want the "Magic Menu" to operate.

I would like to call your attention to the section in Using Matrix maker 3.0.2 that discusses the slight discrepancies between the appearance of completed matrices on the screen and the layout of the final printed text. This issue affects only the spacing within the character strings printed above the matrix (i.e., the title and the string(s) immediately below it.) This problem will be fixed in v 3.1.

NOTE: The Matrix maker file-type is unique to this application, and its files can be opened only by application itself. Pre-existing files must be opened from within the application. Double-clicking on a file will open the application but not the file itself. Also, drag-and-drop is not implemented in v 3.0, so files created by it cannot be printed by dropping them on a desktop printer; you must instead use either "Print" from the "File" menu or its keyboard shortcut (Command-P). These issues will be addressed in v 3.1. (This paragraph appears in the section called Using Matrix maker. It is included here for the sake of completeness.)

I should mention one other minor annoyance, namely that the cursor sometimes, depending upon what section the of program is executing at the time, appears as a vertical line rather than as the more esthetically Mac-like arrow. We noticed this when we were putting the finishing touches on the package, and we decided that it was too insignificant a problem to waste time on. It will be fixed in the next version.

PLEASE NOTE: Matrix maker 3.0.2 has been tested with Mac OS 8, Mac OS 8.1, Mac OS 8.5, and Mac OS 8.5.1 on Power Macintosh/Macintosh clone machines and with System 7.5.1 on 68K Macintosh machines. It has not, however, been tested with Systems 7.5.3 or 7.5.5 or with Mac OS 7.6 or 7.6.1, nor has it been tested with the True Finder Integration control panel in StuffIt Deluxe 4.0. Use it with these systems and/or versions at your own risk!
